Review: Seva Foods Space Ice Kream and Coconut Jerky

Launched in 2017, Seva Foods touts itself as a producer of organic plant based snacks. They were kind enough to send me their Coconut Jerky and Space Ice Kream, and I had fun tasting them and sharing them with others. All of their products are organic, gluten-free, soy-free, dairy-free, vegan and contain no added sugar or oil. The Space Ice Kream contains cashews, which is the main potential allergen in their products.

Going in, I knew the coconut jerky would be iffy for me because I've never been a fan of coconut flavor or texture. I tried to keep an open mind, though, and this is also why I solicited the opinions of others. The savory jerky smells absolutely amazing, probably due to a combination of the garlic powder and smoked paprika. One coworker found the texture quite convincing, and I have to admit that I did at first as well. Once I chewed more, the texture turned somewhat creamy which I did not enjoy.

The cilantro lime flavor wasn't as bad, and this one is spicy! I appreciate that they're packing a punch since it's easy to shy away from heat. A different coworker described this one as sinewy (in a good way), which I'd agree with. I'm more likely to eat this one again than the savory flavor.

The Space Ice Kream was what I was really looking forward to, and it did not disappoint. First of all, how fun is that shape? It's also the perfect size to pop one in your mouth and enjoy as it melts down. Neither the vanilla nor the strawberry has a super strong flavor, and they both taste very natural. It seems like most newer vegan products that are sweet contain stevia or monk fruit which gives them a fake sugary flavor, so I like that Seva uses maple syrup. Their Space Ice Kream provides just the right amount of sweetness to satiate your sweet tooth with a few pieces.

You can order all of these products directly on the Seva Foods website or on Amazon. They are also stocked at a growing number of stores across the country. I encourage you to support this growing vegan business!
