Vegan Essentials is an online vegan grocer and retailer based out of Waukesha, WI. They've been operating since 1997, and they're a fantastic resource for vegan goodies. The stock rotates and refreshes frequently, and especially right now, many products are listed as sold out. Browsing their site is like exploring a treasure trove, and if you find something you want that's sold out, you can submit your email address to be notified when it's restocked.
I recently went in search of a birthday present for my partner, so I headed to Vegan Essentials for some fun and special treats. My first pick was Follow Your Heart's Creamy Garlic Salad Dressing. Because garlic. I wish it was a little thicker, and it could use a bit more of a garlic punch, but otherwise I think it's great. I ended up making a breakfast quesadilla and used the dressing to top it off, along with sriracha and avocado.
Larsen Bakery
When I saw this Vegan Pecan Kringle from Larsen Bakery, I knew I had to get it. Kringle is a filled Danish pastry, and Larsen's makes a few different flavors that are vegan-friendly. Isn't it beautiful?? We warmed it in the oven, and it was fresh and flaky.
Clean South
Clean South's Vegan Buffalo Wings are a real treat. They're based in Los Angeles, and I could eat these wings many times over. The base is vital wheat gluten, and we chose to bake them in the oven.
The oven helped them crisp up a bit, and just for fun, we added The Herbivorous Butcher's herb feta then dipped it all in ranch. Highly recommend!
Reine Vegan Cuisine
Last but definitely not lease was Reine Vegan Cuisine's Trufflehound fermented cashew cheese.
It's not the most beautiful thing to look at, but it's creamy and amazing. They make several flavors that all sound wonderful, such as pesto pistachio, strawberry balsamic, chipotle cheddar, and more.
We started by simply spreading it on some fresh bread, and I immediately wanted to consume the whole round of cheese. What are your favorite brands of artisanal vegan cheese?
I'm extremely happy with my purchases from Vegan Essentials. Shipping was quick, and the company has been communicative about any delays in being able to purchase (they recently took a few days off from accepting orders so they could catch up on shipping out recent orders). The main downside is they use styrofoam for cold shipping, so I'm planning to reuse the box I received somehow.
