Review: Barr Necessities Cookies

Barr Necessities reached out to me about reviewing their Empowered Cookies, and I can't pass up cookies. With the new year, many people are trying out Veganuary (sign up here to take the pledge!) and there are more options than ever for enjoying the same foods you're used to. Take these soft, moist, flavorful cookies, for example.

Barr Necessities' small batch, planet-friendly Empowered Cookies are gluten-free, vegan, non-GMO, paleo-friendly, and free from palm oil. They're also free from corn, soy, and peanuts. I'll admit I was skeptical about trying them, but I was pleasantly surprised. To start, these are some thicc cookies.

The primary ingredients are almond meal and coconut nectar, so the cookies are full of protein and lightly sweetened. They're actually fairly rich, so a couple bites is plenty for me.

The flavors I tried are chocolate walnut, raisin walnut, chocolate cherry, lemon lavender poppy seed, and ginger molasses. I'm not big on florals, so the lemon lavender made me feel like I was eating lotion, but that's a personal preference. The ginger molasses is my favorite because the bite from the ginger helps balance out the richness.

If you're a gluten-free vegan looking for a higher protein treat, then you should definitely check out The Empowered Cookie line from Barr Necessities. And if you're not, I'd still encourage you to support this small woman-owned company.

You can make a purchase directly on their website, and shipping is free!
