Eating Plant Based at Cherry Tree Inn Bed & Breakfast

Thank you to Visit McHenry County for hosting me for a fun Girlfriends Getaway weekend!

I had the pleasure of enjoying a hosted blogger weekend in McHenry County, and the area embodies the definition of small town charm. Our home base was the Cherry Tree Inn Bed and Breakfast, which is about as idyllic as bed and breakfasts come. If you're a fan of Groundhog Day, then you'll recognize it as the same place Bill Murrary's character stays in during the movie.

As I browsed photos of the rooms beforehand, the Black Walnut Suite images made me want to crawl inside and cuddle up with a good book. Luck was on my side, and I was able to select it as my room for the weekend! It's as cozy as it looks, trust me.

Lori, the owner, made us feel right at home. Cadry from Cadry's Kitchen was one of the bloggers participating in the weekend (she's the one who told me about it in the first place), and we weren't sure what to expect regarding vegan options, but we honestly had nothing to worry about. The first morning, Lori made vegan chocolate chip and cherry scones which were light and fluffy. There were enough that I snacked on them a couple times throughout the weekend.

In addition to the scones, we had toasted oatmeal with homemade berry compote. Lori provided plenty of toppings which allowed us to customize our breakfast. She also provided fresh orange slices and coffee.

The second morning, we enjoyed vegan biscuits and gravy with Field Roast's apple maple breakfast sausage. The gravy was just the right consistency, and I had a second helping without hesitation. Anni from Mowgli Studio was the videographer for the weekend, and she's vegan, so we were happy to share with her as well.

My next post showcases other vegan eats from the weekend, but I started with the Cherry Tree Inn because of how much I sincerely enjoyed my stay there with the other bloggers. While Cadry and I were already friends, we shared our weekend adventures with Sierra from Eclectic Kurves, Ashley from Ashley Morgan Style, and Theresa from The Local Tourist. Also pictured is Kelsey from K-Adams Foto who photographed our activities, and Kristine who works for Visit McHenry County and planned everything.

If you find yourself in Woodstock, IL, and have the opportunity to stay at the Cherry Tree Inn, I highly recommend you take advantage of it!
