Brunch at Fig + Farro

Update 5/27/2020: Fig + Farro has closed.

My friend Jillian invited me out to brunch today, and we settled on Fig + Farro to try out some options on their new all vegan menu. They switched from vegetarian to fully vegan on November 3rd, and we've been anxious to check it out, especially as neither of us had been there in awhile.

We started with the infamous Giant Blueberry Cinnamon Roll which was more than enough for both of us. It was light and sweet with just the right amount of blueberry flavor. I would get this again, but I think I might need a couple more friends on board to help out.

I opted for the Bennie which includes an English muffin, spinach, smoked mushrooms, Frank's Red Hot Hollandaise, and breakfast potatoes. I added house made sausage for an extra $4. It was great, but I don't think the amount I received was worth $4 so I wouldn't add it again. Also, this dish would have been light years better if it weren't for the flavor of the mushrooms. They tasted like I was eating a campfire which completely overpowered all of the other flavors.

Jillian ordered the Breakfast Sammie which is an English muffin with tomato tahini, chickpea eggies, sausage, and arugula with a side of breakfast potatoes. She cut it up with her knife and fork because it was too precarious to try and pick up and take a bite out of, but she enjoyed it overall.

We both loved the breakfast potatoes which were soft inside and had a nice, crisp outside. I wish I had stuck with my original instinct which was to get the Chilaquiles, so I'll have to go back for those at some point. The general manager stopped by to check in and recommended the Favorite Flannel Hash. It's made with fingerling potatoes, beets, sausage, eggies, and gravy or salsa. Fig + Farro offers a nice variety of both sweet and savory brunch items, and there seems to be something for everyone. I look forward to stopping by for dinner later this week.

If you've tried their new menu already, what's been your favorite so far? Feel free to share in the comments!
